The Beethoven Concours Nederland, organized by the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo, is a new offer aimed at highly talented musicians. The online competition makes it possible to present one’s own skills to the public and a renown jury and to compare oneself with other young artists from all over the world.
The Beethoven Concours Nederland takes place in two rounds on the basis of video presentations. The juries include lecturers from the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo and renowned guests.
The videos of all finalists will be documented on our website. The names and rankings of the winners will be announced on our social media channels to draw broad attention to the laureates.

Lisa Franken was born into a family of musicians and began playing the cello and piano at the age of 4. She later received her musical education at the conservatories of Cologne (Germany), Maastricht (Netherlands) and the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Brussels (Belgium) in the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music/Concert Examination programmes, which she completed with distinction. |
Konstantin Manaev
Cellist Konstantin Manaev, who has lived in Berlin since 2012, now performs regularly as a soloist throughout Europe. His concert repertoire includes works from the earliest Baroque to the modern era. Born in Ekaterinburg, he received his first violoncello lessons at the age of seven. He first studied at the Special Music School of the Moscow Conservatory with Kirill Rodin, then at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and at the Musikakademie Basel with Ivan Monighetti, who has contributed greatly to the development of young musicians’ musical personality and power of interpretation. The impetus for a musical career on an international scale came from a large number of successful competitions. For example, Konstantin Manaev won 1st prize at the Grand Prix of the International Wilkomirski Violoncello Competition in Poznan, Poland, at the 12th Young Concert Artists European Auditions in Leipzig. This was followed by a 2nd prize at the 6th ADAM International Violoncello Competition in Christchurch, New Zealand. This was followed by concert performances in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, in the Semperoper Dresden, in the Berlin Philharmonie, in the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, in the Laeszhalle Hamburg, in the Tonhalle Zurich and in the Auditorio Nacional de Musica de Madrid. As a soloist he has worked with orchestras such as the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie Herford, the Lucerne and Basel Symphony Orchestras, the Sinfonietta Cologne, the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. From the winter semester 2016/17 Konstantin Manaev will be a lecturer for violoncello at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein Berlin. |

Aurelia Faidley-Solars , USA3rd Prize

At the age of 12, Aurelia released her first album, “From Bach to Summerland” and was reviewed by writer Huntley Dent for New York Classical Review. “She’s a wonderfully gifted 12-year-old with remarkable technique and a musical understanding beyond her years. If you wonder how such a young performer might fare in the Elgar Cello Concerto, Faidley puts on her Jacqueline du Pré cap for a passionately felt introduction…”. Aurelia debuted in Europe in 2022 with the Haydn C Major Cello Concerto in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the Amati Philharmonic Orchestra, receiving nine curtain calls. She performed the Elgar Concerto in the fall of 2022 with the NY Virtuosi Symphony. She has also soloed with the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, the American Chamber Orchestra, the New York Concerti Sinfonietta, the Camerata Artists International Orchestra, the Montgomery Symphony in Ohio, and the Sempre Musick Symphony in Boston. In 2021 and 2022, Aurelia became the youngest winner of NY State’s MTNA solo competition and the Alternate winner for the entire Eastern division. Aurelia was the youngest student to attend the main program of the Heifetz International Music Institute (2021) and attended MeadowMount Music School in 2022. She is the youngest prizewinner in the Ronald Sachs International Competition. In 2022, Aurelia was named the youngest “Artist of the Year” and gave a five-state recital tour with a full solo recital program. Aurelia is the winner of the Hill International Concerto Competition and will perform the Elgar Cello Concerto in May as well. In March, 2023, she was the only student featured in a professional concert presented by the Dvorak American Heritage Association, a joint concert between Prague and the United States, honoring the 130th anniversary of The New World Symphony. She is working on her next album with Petrichor Records after winning a competition, and is the youngest finalist in the Artist Presentation Society’s history. In April, 2023, she performed Tessarini with the American Chamber Orchestra, and Elgar Concerto with the Symphony of New York. She will appear with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Budapest National Symphony in October, 2023. She has appeared in masterclasses with Darrett Adkins, Laurence Lesser, Richard Aaron, Brannon Cho, Phillipe Muller, David Finckel, Ralph Kirschbaum, Amit Peled, Stephen Done, Rosemary Elliot, Peter Stumpf, and Pablo Ferrandez. Other major teachers include Hans Jorgen Jensen and John-Henry Crawford. Other studies include Zlatomir Fung, Paul Katz, and Clive Greensmith. Aurelia has soloed in many cities around the world including London, Vienna, Salzburg, London, Budapest and Prague. She has performed all over New York City, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, The Manhattan School of Music, and The Juilliard School. Besides cello, Aurelia is a dedicated ballet dancer, studying at the School of American Ballet. She has performed a featured role in the New York City Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” and in “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”. She loves art of all kinds, singing, and animals. She owns a 1.5 year old crested gecko named “Autumn”. |
Ryan Yeh , Neuseeland3rd Prize

Currently, he is under the tutelage of the well-known cellist James Tennant. At the age of nine, Ryan has already performed in LA, Sydney and locally. He is a member of NZ Star Trio. Ryan was the winner of 2020-2021 Vivo International Music Competition Cello Category I. He was also the recipient of the NZ Gifted Awards in the same year. In 2022 Ryan was the first prize winner of Gustav Mahler Cello Competition in Category II. Early 2022 he participated in both Yäyse International and Anton Rubinstein International Cello Junior Competition. He became one of the winners in the 2022 Rubinstein International Junior Cello Competition as well as one of the selected finalist of the Yäyse International Competition. Later 2022, he took the 2nd place of the New Zealand Note-Able National Instrumental Competition. He also gave his 4th cello solo recital in the Wallace Arts Centre in Auckland few month ago. Ryan is invited to go to the capital city of New Zealand to perform as a soloist under the Young Artist Program with New Zealand Symphony Orchestra this April. |
CONDITIONS AND FAQ
• The Beethoven Concours Nederland is organised online by the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo.’
• Students and professional musicians of all nations can participate in these competitions with their videos, without any age limit (except for the junior competitions, which are open to children aged 8 to 12 and young people aged 12 to 15).
How do the competitions work?
• There are two rounds: the first round and the final round.
• After the registration deadline, the names of the candidates who participated in the first round will be published on our website on the date specified in the tender.
• The jury will decide on the admission of a maximum of 16 candidates to the final after the first round on the date specified in the tender.
What happens if I am in the final?
• All names and videos of the finalists will be published on our website on the dates specified in the tender.
• The candidates do not have to do anything else. They will be informed by email that they are in the final.
• No new video is required for the final round – the jury’s decision will be based on the material submitted with the entry deadline.
What happens if I am not in the final?
• All candidates in the first round will receive a certificate of participation by email.
What are the prizes?
• The results of the final round will be announced by email to the winners on the date specified in the tender and published on our website and social media channels.
• All winners will receive a certificate documenting the competition prize by e-mail.
• All other finalists will receive a certificate by email stating that they have participated in the final round.
How can I register for the competition?
• To register, candidates need the following documents:

How should I make the recording?
• The programme can be chosen freely, with a duration of approximately 30 minutes.
Candidates may submit one or more YouTube video links.
• The YouTube video links should be submitted directly at the time of registration but may still be submitted by e-mail up to the registration deadline for the respective competition.
• No new videos will be accepted after the registration deadline.
• The videos will be used for judging in both rounds. Finalists do not have to submit new videos.
What are the legal conditions?
• With their registration, participants allow the organiser to freely dispose of the photo, sound and video recordings submitted to the competition for the purpose of documentation and public relations on its website and social media channels.
• The jury’s decision is final.
