Andreas Neufeld was born in 1976 in Russia into a musical family and received his first violin lessons at the age of five. From 1992 to 2000 he studied at the Heidelberg-Mannheim University of Music with Prof. Roman Nodel. In addition to the course “Orchestral Music”, he also completed an artistic postgraduate course as well as the course “Concert Examination”. During this time Andreas Neufeld was also a scholarship holder of the foundation “Podium Junge Musiker” as well as of the German Music Competition Bonn and won the 1st prize at the Chamber Music Competition Mannheim as well as the 2nd prize at the “International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists” in Weimar.
Andreas Neufeld gained his first orchestral experience as a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, where he played under Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis and Kurt Sanderling, among others. He also participated as 1st concertmaster in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the direction of Claudio Abbado.
In 1998 Andreas Neufeld became 1st violinist in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, being the youngest orchestra member at that time. He held this position until 2009. In the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons he was 1st concertmaster in the orchestra of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and is currently 1st violinist in the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Andreas Neufeld is co-founder of the ensemble “Philharmonic Friends Vienna-Berlin” (members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic) and is also a member of the “Philharmonic Camerata Berlin” and the “Philharmonic Violins Berlin”. As a sought-after orchestral musician, Andreas Neufeld regularly performs with the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Orquestra Sinfonica de Tenerife, the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, the Super World Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Vienna Philharmonic.
As a soloist, Andreas Neufeld first appeared as a scholarship holder of the German Music Council in the concert series “Concerts of Young Artists”, followed by performances with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Halle, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Trier, the Orchestra of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, the State Philharmonic Orchestra Dnipropetrowsk, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Orquestra Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica, among others. His chamber music guest appearances have taken him to many countries in Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
In addition to his active solo and chamber music activities, Andreas Neufeld is a busy lecturer. He taught at the “Pacific Music Festival Sapporo”, Japan (2005 to 2009), at the “Musas se Sardigna INTERNATIONAL”, Italy (2007) and gives master classes in Italy, Spain, Korea, Taiwan, Costa Rica as well as in the USA.
