Biography

Peter Bartetzky received his first piano lessons at the age of 8. After graduating from the Max-Planck-Gymnasium in Duisburg – Meiderich, studied school music and pedagogical minor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik (Folkwang-Hochschule) in Essen. Main subject piano with Prof. Till Engel, double bass with Prof. Rolf Heister, choir and orchestra conducting with Professors Josef Bucher and Guido Knüsel, composition with Prof. Rainer Zillhardt.

In 1980 he took a partial examination in school music and pedagogy for the teaching profession in secondary school II – studied English language and literature at the University of Duisburg.

In 1983 he took a state examination for church musicians (A-exam with the overall result very good; choir conducting with distinction.)

1986 – concert exam and appointment as deanery cantor for the deanery Duisburg-Hamborn.

Since 1988 Peter Bartetzky has a teaching position for music theory at the State University of Music in Düsseldorf (Robert-Schumann-Hochschule).Since 2020 Peter Bartetzky is lecturer for music theory at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf and from 2021 at the Beethoven Conservatorium in Tegelen.
